One of the best ways to teach love and appreciation for our planet this coming Earth Day (April 22nd) is to get out and enjoy it’s beauty and wonder. So gather the family and make the day extra special with these four ideas.
Sunrise or Sunset Celebration – Set the alarm and pack a picnic breakfast to see the sun come up together. Or do the reverse and watch the sun go down with dinner al fresco. Either way, it will be a beautiful site to behold.
Nature Scavenger Hunt – Create a list of items found in nature in your area and challenge your team of explorers to find each one as you take a walk or hike. And while you’re at it, bring a bag to dispose of trash you find along the way. Get a free printable from Make and Takes.
Plant Something – Be it building a raised garden, some light landscaping or just potting a plant, playing in some dirt is good for the soul. And seeing what it takes to make something grow teaches a valuable lesson.
Visit an Animal Habitat – Plan an outing to a local farm, aquarium, zoo or other animal habitat where you can talk about keeping our planet healthy for humans and furry friends alike.
